We are training at the AIJC Conference in October
Alibi Investigations will be appearing at the African Investigative Journalism Conference (AIJC) in Johannesburg, South Africa this October. It’s a huge honour and our Executive Director Paul McNally will be there to represent. If you are in Joburg around that time let us know.
We will be offering training in investigative podcast creation to the delegates of the conference.
As an organisation we are in full training mode.
Currently, African journalists are invited to join our free, online podcast community (through our Google Group). We have 100 journalists there so far.
From there they have access to our group sessions in investigative podcast creation that cover narrative, writing and editing. We have put a recording of the first group training up on YouTube and we are building a place for resources on how to build African investigative podcasts.
We then offer one-on-one mentoring sessions to members of our community so we can really dig into the details of their stories.
We encourage journalists to produce their series in their own languages, as well as English. We work with the journalist, their editor and in-house technical teams to support and collaborate on the full spectrum of their work.
The podcasts that are created are distributed as part of the Alibi series, on local radio or as independent podcasts.
This is all to spread investigative podcast creation on the continent as well as build more diverse, exciting series of Alibi.
